HawaiianMiles Are Now Atmos Rewards: What Happened to Your Balance

HawaiianMiles closed on 1 October 2025 and every balance moved 1:1 into Atmos Rewards, the combined Alaska and Hawaiian program. What changed, what didn't, and whether the points still expire.

HawaiianMiles Are Now Atmos Rewards: What Happened to Your Balance

If you are looking for your HawaiianMiles account, it still exists. The name doesn’t.

On 1 October 2025 every HawaiianMiles account converted into Alaska’s combined loyalty program, which had been renamed Atmos Rewards that August. Balances moved across 1:1. Elite status was matched. Nothing was lost and nothing needed doing. What retired was the branding.

We are writing this because people still search for HawaiianMiles by name, land on pages that talk about it as a going concern, and reasonably assume their balance is sitting somewhere it isn’t. It is sitting in the same account, under a different name, and it is worth more than it was.

The timeline, in three dates

  • August 2025 — Alaska renames Mileage Plan to Atmos Rewards. Same account, same balance, new name. Plenty of guides still say Mileage Plan.
  • 1 October 2025 — HawaiianMiles folds into it. Every balance converts 1:1, elite status carries across automatically, and members who already held a Mileage Plan account see the two merge into one.
  • April 2026 — Hawaiian Airlines joins Oneworld. Alaska was already a member.

That third date is the one nobody talks about and the one that changes what these points are for.

What you can actually do with them now

Before the merger, HawaiianMiles bought you Hawaiian flights. That was close to the whole story: a good program for island hops and the West Coast run to Honolulu, and not much beyond it.

Atmos Rewards points book Alaska, Hawaiian, and the Oneworld carriers. That means British Airways, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Finnair and the rest are all reachable from a balance that used to be stuck on one carrier. Long-haul business and first on partners is where a bought point returns the most, and it is the reason the merged program is a more interesting place to hold a balance than either half was on its own.

The award charts are distance-based rather than a flat regional table, so the price of a redemption follows how far you actually fly.

Do the points expire?

No. Alaska removed mileage expiry in April 2023 and the rebrand kept the policy, so the points themselves have no clock on them.

There is a caveat worth knowing, because it catches people who converted a Hawaiian balance and then forgot about it. An account with no earning or redeeming for 24 months can be frozen for security. A phone call to customer service unfreezes it. Leave it a further year, three in total, and the account can be closed with the balance lost.

So the points don’t expire. The account can. Any activity at all resets that clock, and the effort involved is roughly one purchase through a shopping portal.

Program facts checked August 2026, against Alaska’s own announcements. Loyalty terms move, and this is a program mid-integration, so treat the detail as current rather than permanent.

What this changes if you are buying

Three practical things.

You are buying Atmos Rewards points. If you order what you think of as HawaiianMiles from us, what lands in your account is the Atmos Rewards balance behind it. That is not a substitution. It is the same balance the airline itself renamed.

The account you already hold is the account they go into. Nothing about the merger changed the mechanics of a transfer: your membership number and the name on the account are what a transfer needs, and we never ask for a password.

Check which account you are quoting. If you held both HawaiianMiles and Mileage Plan before October 2025, they are one account now. Members who held only one had the other created for them. Worth confirming your number before ordering, because a transfer goes where you send it.

Where to buy them

There is one balance now, so there is one page: Atmos Rewards covers Alaska and Hawaiian alike. It quotes the same live rate we would give you on the phone and confirms your exact price before any payment. Nothing is charged on this site.

If you are weighing whether to buy at all, the Atmos Rewards calculator prices an amount against a real cash fare and will tell you when paying cash is the better trade. It says so often enough that we trust it.
